Electrical Apprentice

Who we are:
We are a hardworking team of solar professionals who love to learn and build to the best of our collective ability. We are an FSR-A ticketed general electrical contractor with deep design-build electrical trade experience, specializing in solar energy and energy storage integration. Since 2011, we have had the opportunity to work in diverse environments, spanning western Canada. We are passionate about long-term participation in the growing renewable energy industry in western Canada. Our crews work on diverse electrical projects including grid-tied and off-grid photovoltaic systems, hybrid energy integration, energy storage systems, EV chargers, general electrical work, and more. About the role:
This is a diverse electrical apprenticeship role. The role is made up of in-town work, and out of town remote site work. A typical day in the field includes traveling to site in company vehicles and working on an installation team of 3-6 crew. Apprentices work under the guidance of certified Red Seal Electricians with decades of diverse industry experience. The role requires the ability to work out of town. Accommodation and food are provided during out of town work shifts.
Competencies:
Has a strong desire to learn, and asks lots of questions
Is motivated, efficient, and keen to take all opportunities to grow their trade knowledge
Has at least 1 year experience working an electrical/construction/labour related job
Enjoys working outside 12 months of year, for 8-10 hours a day
Is interested in travelling around Vancouver Island, and up and down the BC coast, work shifts range from 5-15 days out of town.
Owns some of their own tools and PPE (power tools/major equipment provided)
Is currently located in the Comox Valley, our headquarters and yard are in Cumberland
Has a valid Driver’s License, and experience driving vans and trucks
Is team oriented, has a positive attitude with solid communication skills
Has an inclusive, respectful demeanour and is capable of working in a diverse environment
Duties include but are not limited to:
Mobilizing work vehicles, equipment, and job-related materials
Installing racking systems and solar modules according to array layout drawings
Utilizing fall protection systems and fall arrest equipment, setting and removing temporary roof anchors
Operating GEDA Ladder lift and elevated work platforms
Lifting, moving, and handling materials
Install and terminate common circuit configurations in residential/multi-unit residential applications
Promote safe working conditions participate in the Hakai H&S program, and adhere to occupational health and safety regulations
Maintain organization and follow directions with efficiency and accuracy
Be open to learning and developing new skills
Other duties as needed/requested

Compensation
$24.50 - $28.00 per hour
